This policy explains which cookies Startup List uses and which cookies third parties — including Google AdSense — may set through our site, plus how you can manage them.
Last updated: June 25, 2026
We refresh this list whenever we add or remove a third-party service that uses cookies.
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device through your browser. They allow the site to recognize your device on subsequent visits, remember preferences, keep you signed in, measure traffic, and personalize advertising. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, web beacons, and pixel tags. Throughout this policy we use 'cookies' to refer to all of these.
Authentication: a session cookie keeps you signed in once you log in. Without it, you would have to enter your password on every page. CSRF token: protects you against cross-site request forgery on forms such as submissions and account updates. Analytics: a first-party identifier counts unique sessions, pages per visit, and traffic sources so we can improve our content. Preferences: optional cookies remember your theme, language, and consent choices.
Google AdSense and Google ad partners may set cookies through our site to serve, personalize, frequency-cap, and measure ads. These cookies allow advertising vendors to: (a) serve ads based on your prior visits to startup-list.org and other websites; (b) prevent the same ad from appearing too often; (c) measure the effectiveness of ads. The use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
Stripe sets a cookie on payment pages to detect fraud. Cloudflare and our hosting provider may set short-lived cookies for security, load balancing, and DDoS protection. UploadThing sets cookies during image upload flows.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Major browsers offer documentation: Chrome (https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647), Firefox (https://support.mozilla.org/kb/cookies-information-websites-store-on-your-computer), Safari (https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/manage-cookies-sfri11471), and Edge (https://support.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge). Blocking essential cookies may break authentication and form submissions.
You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google and most other ad networks at the following links: Google Ads Settings (https://www.google.com/settings/ads), Network Advertising Initiative (https://optout.networkadvertising.org), Digital Advertising Alliance (https://www.aboutads.info/choices), and European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (https://www.youronlinechoices.eu). Opting out does not remove all ads — you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized to you.
If you visit Startup List from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising). You can withdraw consent at any time by visiting our cookie preference center via the footer or by clearing your cookies in your browser.
Some browsers send a 'Do Not Track' signal. There is no industry-wide agreement on how to interpret this signal, so we do not currently respond to it. We honor explicit opt-outs through the consent banner and the third-party links listed above.
As we add or remove third-party services, we will update this list. Material changes will be announced via a banner on the homepage. The 'Last updated' date below always reflects the current version.
Questions about cookies or tracking? Email hello@startup-list.org and we will respond within 5 business days.
