These Terms set out the rules that govern your use of Startup List. Please read them carefully before submitting a product, creating an account, or purchasing a paid placement.

By using Startup List you agree to the latest version of these Terms.
By accessing or using Startup List at startup-list.org (the 'Service'), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Startup List. If you create an account on behalf of a company, you must have the legal authority to bind that company to these Terms.
You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping your password secure. Notify us immediately at hello@startup-list.org if you suspect unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that pose a risk to other users or the platform.
When you submit a startup, write a comment, or upload an image, you retain ownership of your content but grant Startup List a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, reformat, translate, and promote the content as part of the directory and our marketing channels (including social media, newsletter, and SEO surfaces). You represent that you have the rights to grant this license and that your submission does not infringe any third-party rights.
You will not: (a) submit content that is illegal, defamatory, hateful, fraudulent, deceptive, or infringes others' intellectual property; (b) impersonate any person or company; (c) attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or our systems; (d) scrape, harvest, or crawl the site without prior written consent; (e) use the Service to send spam or unsolicited promotional content; (f) interfere with or degrade the Service's performance; (g) use automated tools to manipulate rankings, votes, or reviews. We may remove content and terminate accounts for violations.
Basic listing in the directory is free. We also offer paid placements such as featured listings, promoted spots, sponsorships, and advertising. Pricing for paid features is described at /pricing and /advertise and may change with notice. Paid features begin once payment is confirmed by our payment processor (Stripe).
All payments are processed by Stripe and are non-refundable except where required by law or where explicitly stated in the purchase page. You may cancel any recurring subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. If a paid promotion is removed for violating these Terms or our content guidelines, no refund is owed.
Startup List, the startup-list.org name, the logo, written editorial content, original illustrations, layout, and software are owned by us and protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of our content except as expressly permitted by these Terms or with prior written consent.
Our directory contains links to third-party websites and uses third-party services (payments, analytics, advertising). We are not responsible for the content, practices, or policies of those third parties. Visiting a linked website is at your own risk.
Startup List participates in advertising programs including Google AdSense. Sponsored placements, featured listings, and promoted spots are clearly disclosed. Advertising does not influence our editorial rankings, which follow the methodology described at /ranking-methodology.
The Service is provided 'as is' and 'as available' without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Startup List, its operators, contributors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or one hundred US dollars (USD 100), whichever is greater.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Startup List and its operators from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from the profile page. We may suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these Terms or who poses a legal or operational risk. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, dispute resolution) will continue to apply.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operator of Startup List is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring claims in your home jurisdiction.
We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced via a banner on the homepage or by email to registered users at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
